Frustrated by robocalls?
Sometimes a story assignment comes along that feels personal. As a mother whose son may have given out her cell phone number online to try to win a trip to the Bahamas, I am inundated by spammers and spoofers. Sometimes it’s not easy to tell if the person on the other end of line is real. I felt for Emily the first time she dropped her headset. And panicked a bit when spammers posing as IRS agents left a fraudulent threatening message about non-existent back taxes.
Good to know Consumers Union, the policy and mobilization division of Consumer Reports, is on it. You can sign their petition. While you’re at it, call your phone company to see what they’re doing about it, too.
